Caroline has been gearing towards making a few steps here and there for a while now. Nothing we would call "walking" though. It had to be the real deal to get written in the baby book. About the same time she was close to standing she developed a knee scoot. She would scoot on her knees all over the house, sideways like a Fiddler Crab. This proved speedy enough for her and she lost interested in trying to stand and walk.
The past two weeks she has taken a few steps, but it wasn't until Thursday of last week that she walked across her play yard. Then, Friday night, Alan and I were in her room and she walked towards me. Then, she walked towards Alan. We didn't have a video camera, and can you believe it we didn't have one handy when she was walking at her birthday party a couple of days later? Last night, we finally had the phone handy and snagged this. Proof!

April Fools!
Our yard was pretty much snow free yesterday
Mother Nature decided to play a cruel joke on us today. The snow is adding up and any sights of green popping up are gone. This morning I've been making things for Caroline's birthday party while trying to keep in mind that we could lose power any moment.
I can't complain though. This years April Fools is a lot better than last years. Granted, it was a gorgeous day last year. Mom and I went shopping and Alan was busy chopping a tree down. It felt so nice to drive in a warm, sun filled car. All of that came to and end when I started losing my vision and pre-eclampsia set in. Last years whirlwind of an Easter weekend brings a fun weekend of birthday activities this year.
Snow me in and cut off my power. I'm OK because I've got my baby! We're going to embrace this last snowfall and enjoy winter's way of quieting the world.
Enjoying a good book on a snowy day
Aww
Caroline is a cuddle bug. She has always loved snuggle with her bears, etc. on the floor. She'll hold them up to her face and smile. Everytime she does this I naturally say, "Aww." Well, this week she has picked up on that. It started two days ago. She gave me a hug and said, "Aww." Then she'd snuggle with her giant lamb and say, "Aww." Yesterday we tried to film her doing this, but she knew the video camera was out so she would say "Aww" before cuddling anything. Now, she's cuddling with books, oven mitts, etc. and saying "Aww."
Below are two videos of my sweetie. I had to cut them in two because they were too big to upload on to Blogger. Here she is doing what she does best. Blowing kisses, waving hello, and cuddling and saying "Aww."
Not sure why the quality is so bad once uploaded. I'll try to work on that :(

Monday Night
Things have been pretty busy lately so I haven't had a chance to really catch up on here. Caroline has taken her first steps and is slowly being ok with standing and trying for a few more steps every once in a while. She is fine, as long as she is distracted!
This weekend was a blur of shopping, party planning, and a family gathering. Tonight, is just a normal Monday evening. Here's a peak...

The view I get to see all day :)
What's in the bag?
Life lessons with Daddy. You're too young to go to school! You also shouldn't go in other people's bags!
Not happy.

Happy St. Patty's Day!
Last year, on St. Patty's Day, I was hoping to be released from 2 week stint in the hospital. My mom brought me a little shamrock headband to cheer me up. She said, " Next year the baby can wear it." Oh, what a difference a year makes. All those moments of pain, frustration, and waiting for my baby has lead to this....
Look at my sweet little Shamrock baby!

I could never have imagined just how cute "the baby" would be.

Nor, how much she would melt my heart.

This year, on St. Patty's day we went shopping! It's a gorgeous day here in Maine, 55 and sunny. Letting us know that Spring is almost within reach. We had such a nice little girls day. We even ran into a friend who is expecting triplets and is 33 weeks along. I was 33 weeks along this time last year. Just so neat to look back and then smile as you look forward.
Here's one more, of my sweet little baby, as I took her out of her car seat when we got home.
I can't wait for more shopping dates, lunches, picnics etc. with my little girl as the weather gets warmer!

11 Months!
Eleven months have flown by and I am still in disbelief that we are preparing for her first birthday. These photo sessions that we do are getting easier in the sense that we no longer have to prop a tiny baby up and pray that she'll sit upright for a few seconds, but now we have to worry that our subject will take off with sign and bear in hand. Here's how today's session went...

A Quiet Week
This past week has been pretty low key. Just the way we like it! While it's fun to bring Caroline to new places and watch her explore it's more fun to watch her discover new things around the house. She is figuring out so much lately and really giving us a run for our money.
This week she has really been interested in reading her books. She will sit on the couch and read with you, sit on your lap on the floor, and you can even catch her finding a corner and reading. Granted, some of it may just be gnawing as we think those top two teeth have to be making an appearance soon.

Caroline has also gotten good at playing ball. A couple of weeks ago we started with rolling it back and forth and now we've moved on to tossing. Her direction isn't the greatest, but she's all heart :) It's so fun to see that she has caught on to the game. She even likes tossing Tucker's ball to him!
We've been spotting a lot of deer around the house mid-afternoons. We knew they were around because when we were clearing the land we accessed the property through a deer run. We've seen a group of about 14. They mostly stay about 15-20 feet past the tree line, but a few came up close the other day.
