Caroline's 6th Birthday Party ~ Mermaid Party

On Saturday, April 2nd, we held a Mermaid Party for Caroline at Village by the Sea in Wells. Caroline and a few friends enjoyed some swimming, light lunch and cake. The pool was great because it had this little lagoon shallow end and then a regular shallow end with a waterfall. George and the girls had a great time. Nothing like a pool party in the middle of winter, because lets face it, the beginning of April is still winter here :)  
After cake and presents the kids left and we packed up. We had the place for a little longer so Alan and I decided to take the kids in for one last swim. I didn't get a chance to get into the pool for the party so this was a nice treat to swim all together with essentially the pool to ourselves.
Another party for the books and I think this was one of my favorites to plan and decorate for and it was pretty easy. With Caroline's love of mermaids, I'd been saving ideas for a while but she just hadn't wanted a mermaid party until now.

Week of 3/27 in Pictures

This was a fun week. We were busy with appointments and gearing up for Caroline's party on Saturday but we were also enjoying leftover Easter excitement (and candy) and the warm weather that graced us for a couple of days. Although it only lasted for a couple of days and then we were greeted with snow, it was still nice to remember what will soon be here!

Easter

Easter morning Caroline came down the stairs and we quickly sent her back up to wait for her brother. We had talked about it the night before, but ya know excitement :) After both kids were awake they came downstairs. George was more concerned with breakfast but he soon realized what was going on! I forgot to get a picture of their baskets before they tore them apart but I shoved the things back in and took a quick picture while they ate breakfast! George and Caroline did a great job at finding the eggs this year and all were collected, unlike last year!
We headed over to Grampy and Nana's for Easter dinner with Aunt Barbara, Uncle Rick, Great Gram and Uncle Carlton. Afterwards, when Great Gram and crew left, we headed to the river so Alan and Grampy could test out their speed boats. Alan's got stuck and had to be rescued. After that, we were ready to get back and head home and get warm. Especially Alan since he had to go in the water :P

Easter Egg Hunt, Cupcakes, and Egg Dying

Saturday, the day before Easter, we headed out to Snug Harbor farm for their Easter egg hunt. It was a lot of fun since there was no snow on the ground this year and George got into the action as well. Caroline met up with some friends with school and kind of kept taking off on us. After the egg hunt we went into the barn and checked out the chicks, baby ducks, ponies, rabbits and Caroline got her face painted. When we came home they checked out their loot (George was missing some since he decided to sneak some on the way home), relaxed, and then Caroline and I got to decorating the cupcakes for Easter dessert. We had a lot of fun although the "Easy" grass was kind of a pain, but we got them looking super festive. After George's nap we dyed the Easter eggs. Finally, a little home made pizza and off to bed to await the Easter bunny!
