We knew last week would be very busy but somehow we managed to make it more fun than work! Over the weekend we hit a farm that is just around the corner from us and picked up some rhubarb and a few bee-balm plants I've been searching for. Caroline met up with one of the employee's wife who happens to be a Kindergarten teacher and she was in heaven. They fed the bunnies, the horses, grabbed an egg from the chicks and met the goose! George had PT and his 6 month appointment this week. Oh, and he TURNED 6 MONTHS this week! Time and his growth are just flying by! We had Caroline's parent/teacher conference, she had a field trip (more to come on that later), Grampy's birthday dinner (more on that), swimming lessons, and George had his first tastes of real food (more later!) A busy week indeed!

This has been a trip that has been almost a year in the works. We wanted to take Caroline last year for her birthday but the aquarium was under renovations until September. We were going to take her in the fall but the idea of me waddling around 9 months pregnant wasn't appealing so we waited for her 4th birthday present. Every year we like to do something during the week, the three of us. Doesn't have to always be something super exciting, but it's about us spending family time. George stayed with Nana while we left for Boston. We headed down early in the morning spent the whole day in Boston. Caroline was excited to see skyscrapers and the aquarium. We didn't get to ride on a subway, but there is always next time! We all had a lot of fun seeing the penguins, seals, sting rays, etc. Caroline really improved from last years aquarium trip in South Carolina. She touched all of the stingrays, a few sharks and of course the star fish etc. We came home with a small stuffed penguin and cute little wooden dream boxes with their names on them. Sadly, it's not often you see the classic names on things anymore!?!

While the concept that I am a mother who celebrates Mother's Day still seems new to me, this year was extra special and new, since I'm now a mommy to two amazing children. They make me smile and laugh, I adore them like no other, and they cause me grief that only mothers know. :) This year I asked for a relaxed day where we didn't have to rush about, worry about lines or waiting on checks with two antsy children. We eased into our day and didn't leave the house until 10 and had a little breakfast picnic on the beach. Then, we went and picked out flowers for my planters on the deck and a new tree that will be my "George" tree, a gardenia hybrid. This has become a bit of tradition, stopping at Herb's for my Mother's Day plants. Then, we came home for a nap and headed to Aunt Barbara and Uncle Richard's house for dinner. While we had a little excitement at the end (Daddy locked the keys in the car and AAA had to come rescue us) we still managed to get the children into bed at a decent hour and could relax before the busy week ahead. We didn't get many pictures since we were relaxing and doing, but Alan tried to get a few in from the day.
