Week in Pictures

This week was actually pretty slow and we took it in stride! The weather definitely played a major part in it. The first of the week was cool, so cool in fact that we took out the air conditioners and started draining the pool. Then the middle of the week hit and the temps reached 95F! Then, the rain came in. Oh, the rain! I'm not sure what the official stats are, but it almost filled up our cooler on the deck in 24 ours, about 10" and the rain went on for a few days. Today, Saturday, we're finally starting to dry up, but of course the temps dipped back down to high 60's. Can't we just enjoy a little mid-70's for a while?

So, anyways, we did a lot of baking and goofing off at home. Some organizing and some relaxing. Caroline had another great week at pre-school. She has gotten to the point where she doesn't even say "good-bye" to me anymore. She runs right in and gets started. No problem adjusting here! She loves it and doesn't want to leave when I am there to pick her up! We also had our first homework project, a family tree, to work on this week. Caroline helped with everything but writing the names. From the color choice, orange is a must!, to making sure her baby brother was added to the tree as well :) She was quite proud!

Celebrating 6 Years!

We celebrated our sixth anniversary on August 26th. On Saturday night, Alan and I tried a new restaurant out in Kennebunkport and walked around Dock Square. On the actual day of our anniversary, Alan stayed home and we had a fun, low-key family day. No errands, nothing too taxing, just us as a family hanging out. After sleeping in pretty late, we headed to Wells and walked around for a few and then had some fun at the arcade. Then, we headed down to Flo's so I could FINALLY have one of her famous hot dogs. Caroline loved chatting it up with everyone in line! Then, we headed to York Beach and hit up the candy shops. We didn't get many pictures, but I knew I had to mention this since Caroline and I played our first air hockey game together. This is big if you don't know that I was all about Foosball and air hockey growing up :)

Six years have flown by because they were sweet and shared with the most amazing man! We've settled into a nice life, the two of us, and I know we both look forward to what our future holds. (Granted, we took absolutely no pictures of the two of us together over the weekend. Oops!?!?)

A Gorgeous Day for Boat Ride

The last Sunday in August we all went for a boatride out to the Isles of Schoals, Boone Island, and Ogunquit. You couldn't have asked for a nicer day. The ocean was as flat as can be and the sun was shining. Granted, it was a bit windy as Grampy went fast to our destinations :)
Unfortunately, when we got to Star Island, they had changed the rules and you couldn't take a dingy back to shore after mooring the boat, so Grampy missed the fun while we walked around the island. We did a quick tour and headed back to the boat to have lunch with Grampy. Then, we took a ride around Boone Island to feed some seals, and then headed into Perkins Cove for some ice cream. We also spotted a whale on the way out. While we haven't gotten to do as much boating as we wanted this summer, days like this make up for it!

End of August Tidbits

We were very busy the end of August. Between scheduled things to do and then trying to cram every last bit of summer in, there was a lot going on around here. It's a good thing too, since so far, September has been a bit chilly!

Here are a few random things that went on, and I'll post the more specific, bigger events as separate posts!

 We tried to go to a Seadogs baseball game, Caroline's first ever baseball game, 

but they were sold out :(

A Trip to Smiling Hill Farm

At the end of August we headed to Smiling Hill Farm, where we used to get all of Caroline's milk and have visited before, to hang out with some friends and see the animals. It was a perfect morning activity and lots of fun to explore the animals with Caroline's friends. After, we had lunch on the farm, which also was fun watching the girls together!

Last Week in Pictures

Before I start playing catch up with the month of August, I wanted to go ahead and finish off this week in pictures. I would have had these posted last night, on Friday like I've been shooting for, but we finally went out with Nana & Grampy to celebrate my birthday. See how busy we've been? It's almost a month late, but still quite as tasty :)

So, the big thing this week was obvously Caroline's first week of pre-school. We were also pretty busy because Caroline had a new allergist appointment and I had my 28 week appointment. I wish I could say Caroline's appointment went well, but after some testing it is clear that she is still highly allergic to peanuts and we're back to square one. So, we'll just keep plugging along. The skin test really bothered her this time around, but she was a trooper! My appointment went well, no news is good news :) I start going every 2 weeks now, which means we're nearing the end! During all of this chaos we decided to stop and enjoy a beautiful day on Wednesday. It's been getting chilly here fast and we know these times may end for the season, so we grabbed some food through the drive-thru and had an impromptu picnic in the park. We relaxed in the shade of a big tree, chased butterflies, and walked around for a bit. It's always nice when you're favorite little one leans into you and tells you she loves you, it's a beautiful day, and that this was a good idea :) 

On Caroline's second day of school, I was informed that she was a good helper because she was trying to cheer up her classmates along with the teachers. Explaining to them that grown-ups come back and that school is fun! Mommy and Daddy are so, so proud of our little girl!

First Day of Pre-School!

We've missed a couple of weeks of happenings since I couldn't get the pictures off of my phone, but we're back on track finally. First though, I had to bring you the big, recent news! We have a pre-schooler in the house! It's official :) Caroline started her first day of pre-school this past Tuesday. She has been super excited about this all summer. She did great at drop-off, the only kid that didn't cry. Heck, I was the only parent not peering into the windows outside either! Upon pick-up Caroline said she loved it and couldn't wait to go back! We knew this would be an easy transition for her!
