Goodbye South Carolina

Saturday morning we prepared to leave South Carolina. While I packed up the rest of our things, Caroline and Daddy made one final trip to Piggly Wiggly to get some snacks for the ride. When they came back, we packed up the car, but not before saying good bye to the hotel, the pool, and the elevator. Oh, the elevator! Caroline had so much fun pushing the button during our stay. she provided a lot of comedy for the other guests as well, even breaking into tears when one unsuspecting lady pushed the button before Caroline had the chance!
We were all really sad to go, Caroline and I were quiet grumps for the first twenty minutes of the ride. The clincher for how we know Caroline loved her trip? About 10 minutes into the ride she is asking when our next stop will be because she wants some biscuits :)

"Mothers Day" with Gramma

Friday evening we hit Georgetown to stroll around the river walk and grab some dinner for our pseudo "Mothers Day" with Gramma. Before we left, we decided to grab some pictures in front of the resort with the Live Oaks, except we barely got them in in frame! Caroline is still a bit too wiggly to put up in a tree just yet so we will have to wait.

After dinner we hit our favorite ice cream place for one last cone and then we headed back to the hotel. We played for a little while and then said, "Good bye to Gramma." I get teary just typing this now about leaving Gramma. For the adults, we knew what was happening, but for Caroline she didn't start to get it until we left the hotel and headed back to Maine the following morning.

The Beach

This is Mommy's favorite place. I can't believe we didn't go to the beach until Friday morning! We had so much to do and we still ended up not fitting in everything and some things we wanted to get in twice and that didn't happen either. *sigh* But, Friday morning was beautiful. The weather, tide, and ocean were perfect. Mornings at Litchfield & Pawley's Island are always so quiet, with only a few tourists and mostly locals enjoying the peace.
Caroline and Daddy spent most of the time going back and forth getting water for their sand castles while I relaxed, breathed in the salt air and listened to the peaceful ocean and watched the two of them play. After a while, we decided to go back for some lunch, a little sun free time, and then we hit the pool again :)

Poolside

The biggest draw of this whole vacation for Caroline, besides the fun hotel and eating out for almost every meal, was by far the pool! She was so happy to spend her time swimming and was very sad to say, "Good bye" to the pool when we left. She has asked often if we can go swimming and go back so we can go to the pool, poor thing.  I can't even imagine how much she would have loved the lazy river and the rest of the kid activities had they been open!

She has said that we can stay at another hotel as long as it has a submarine, 

it can be a different color though. Phew!

Bubba's Fish Shack

Caroline and I took Daddy and Gramma to our favorite place to grab some fried goodies. Actually, Daddy went there with Gramma and I long ago too! The first thing we had to do was check and see if Caroline's name was still on one of the beams and it was! So, naturally we had to add this year's date to it and have a photo op. Then, we enjoyed some fried pickles, fried oysters, fried green tomatoes, BBQ, Oysters on the half shell, a cheeseburger and lots of sweet tea! Needless to say, we were stuffed and after a drive around to see some sites we went back to the hotel to crash. We had to rest up, there was more swimming in store that evening!

Week in Photos

We interrupt all of the South Caroline vacation photos for a little current update of what we have been doing this week. This week was all about getting back into the swing of things. This was easy for Caroline, as she dove into all of her toys, etc. For the grownups, we had some catching up to do!
The week was pretty low-key and we tried to keep it that way since Saturday, yesterday, was a busy day! We went to Caroline's pre-school open house first thing in the morning and Caroline was all excited to go, except she realize we were just dropping by and she wouldn't get to go for real until September! Then, we went to Funtown for the first time for a friend's birthday party. Caroline loved, LOVED, all of the rides! She was pretty fearless and wanted to go on some of the big kids rides. Alan actually had to bring her to this massive drop thing and show her that she was too short to ride! There were only tears at the end when she had to ride in the back of the boat and couldn't ring the bell. Sorry kiddo, the park was getting full :)

The first video there were bubbles on the slide so she stumbled but she was fine and there were no tears! The second she was a bit more cautious!
