May Day Festival 2012

Saturday was Kennebunk's May Day Festival. They have a parade, crafts, lots of things for kids to do, and it's just a lot of fun. Caroline loved watching the kids from GymNation tumble, watching the horse give carriage rides, sitting on the riding lawn mower that was being raffled off, sipping on lemonade, wearing her fairy crown, and seeing the animals at the farmer's market. After dinner, we went back out to Big Daddy's Ice Cream for our first ice cream cone of the season. She was adamant about having her own and finishing it! We had to remove some and be crafty because there was no way she was finishing that whole thing on her own! She enjoyed Chocolate Chip, her new favorite flavor since she enjoys that with Grampy a lot!

There were 2 little white lambs and a small, brown sheep.

Our little pixie :)

We couldn't seem to get the photo-op to work.

She gave up and headed for the acorn, but that didn't work either :)

Show the hand crafted fish plate we won. The potter asked us to pick a number and we could win it if we guessed. He said we could guess for Caroline. I said, "Two" since that is Caroline's favorite number and how old she was. The guy laughed and said, "You won!" Easy as that. She's a lucky one!

Finishing the day with Big Daddy's. She decided the spoon takes too long :)

Caroline's 1st Ride

Caroline got to ride her first ride outside of a store on Friday. It was a rainy, miserable day, but we had to go shopping for some new pajama's! She keyed right into the rides and we found a dry one. She was pretty good, she went on it once before we went into the store and once afterwards. The whole ride home she kept an eye out on any other rides though :)

Yardwork

Lots of yardwork going on around here lately. Alan and Caroline are doing most of it though, I've been busy in the kitchen and hopefully it will stay that way until I' ready to garden ;) I snapped a few shots from Sunday. I couldn't pick my favorite so I added them all! See, if I had dirty hands I wouldn't have gotten these great pictures!

Baby's got her high heels on

Caroline has really been into dressing up lately and was not happy when she saw Mommy getting dressed up for our Trane Boston Dinner cruise this past weekend. She really, really wanted to wear Mommy's high heels so we dug out the heels she got over Christmas that we had hid from her! She hasn't stopped wearing these things around the house. She loves to take her microphone and wear her heels and sing Adele's "Rumor Has It." Fear not, she's still our little baby. She and Daddy have fun being silly when Mommy is out shopping. Here she is being swaddled by Daddy. The next morning I found her bear swaddled in her crib :)

Extra! Extra!

Caroline came home this evening and decided she needed to ride her bike around the house and deliver newspapers. :)

Family Day at Gray Wildlife Park

Yesterday we decided to take a family day and put aside work, errands, and everything else that consumes us. First thing in the morning we headed up to Gray to the Maine Wildlife Park. Caroline has been so into animals lately, especially moose and horses. We knew she would love it here and she did! It was a beautiful day and getting there early insured it wouldn't get too hot. We saw moose, deer, a fisher cat, a cougar, bear, coyote, and eagles. Of course, we also saw Caroline's favorite, the turkeys!
Caroline was getting very tired at the end, but she was a trooper and we finished the whole park. We took a drive down to Freeport while Caroline took a quick nap. We put Caroline in her wagon and walked around Freeport and hit McDonald's for lunch. She loved having her own meal and getting a juice box! She also loves riding around and waving to everyone from her wagon! We hit LL Bean and did some shopping and looked at the fish. Afterwards, we headed home and she took a longer nap on the way home. We couldn't have asked for a better family day. We all had a great time and look forward to more outings with Caroline this Summer!

Grampy's Tractor

Today was a beautiful day so Grampy came over with his tractor and helped level out our backyard. We have many truckloads of loam to come, but we're almost ready for seeding! It's nice to see the rough landscape turning into a yard. On to the fun stuff though. Caroline loves Grampy's tractor and was very happy to go for a ride. She went for a ride when he was finished as well and had a ball pushing the buttons and making the horn beep!
