Mornings with Caroline

Caught picking flowers

The mornings are usually action packed in our household. We have a hungry baby who whines a bit while she chugs her milk down and I'm preparing her breakfast. Then she needs to sit with Momma for a few minutes to decide what we're going to do. After that, we're off! We usually play in the kitchen while I clean up breakfast and then we'll head outside to play on the deck before the sun hits it. We'll say good morning to the flowers and vegetables and we'll splash in our water table. After that, we may color some or play with our toys.

Morning only lasts about two hours, since Caroline takes a nap usually from 9-11. Sometimes, she'll go till noon! We head up to her room and read a little and play and then she takes a much needed nap. It's exhausting stuff waking up, eating, and playing :) Thought I'd share some pictures since only I get to enjoy these mornings!

Happy 4th of July!

It was a beautiful day and we headed up to the Welch's camp after Caroline's morning nap. First, we had some fun taking pictures. Last year, I tried to put this headband that Gramma got her on her head and she screamed. It was only OK if Bear wore it. So, I was curious to see what her reaction would be this year. I think it's safe to say she loved them. She didn't want to take it off when she ate and as soon as we arrived at camp she put it back on. She wore it for a good while, showing off her patriotic spirit!

We didn't get any pictures of her swimming which stinks, but we were all having too much fun. Afterwards, she was getting a little tired so she sat with Daddy and read a little. She made it till 6pm (being awake for 7 hours) and as we left she crashed. She didn't even make it a mile up the road!

We hope everyone had a great 4th of July!

Are my ribbons OK?

A Sunday Drive

The weather wasn't as nice today, with possible storms looming, so we decided to stay close to home. We took a drive up to the family camp, but no one else was there. So, we walked around and checked things out. Played with a few toys left behind and enjoyed the quiet.

Then, we took the long way home and hit Shaw's Ridge Farm. Everyone raves about their ice cream, but I've never had any. We decided we should check it out. The ice cream passed the Meg test and Caroline loved it too. Now that she has top and bottom teeth Daddy's ice cream cone didn't stand a chance. We think next time she'll be getting her own. It's a great place to walk around and look at the flowers. They have a little playhouse there, swing set, and put put golf.

Caroline loved playing in the playhouse. There were several chairs and she had fun playing Goldilocks. We all know Caroline loves a good chair. She watched a little boy go up the rock wall (pictured in the background below) and she wasn't happy she couldn't follow. She tried though. She put her hands up to the rocks and tried to get her feet up there. Daddy helped her a little, but we decided to veer her in another direction. Soon Caroline, soon. :)

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Yesterday was Alan's birthday so we headed up to Sebago Lake. Caroline took a nap on the way up and was good to go when we got the slip. It was an absolutely gorgeous day and for most of the morning the lake was still pretty quiet.

Caroline was great on the boat. She was a good sport during the multiple sun screen applications, having to wear her life jacket and sunhat, and having to sit still while we were riding around. The ride didn't faze her and she got her "sea legs" pretty quickly.

The water was still pretty cold so she didn't want to spend too much time in it, but she did have fun hanging out with Daddy. When we started to head back she fell asleep in my arms, the rocking motion putting her fast asleep. She was out for an hour. This, from the kid who hasn't sleep in my arms since maybe 5 months old!

It was a great way to spend Alan's birthday and to kick off the holiday weekend.

Toes in the Sand

The other night we decided to take Caroline to the beach for a walk. This time, we'd finally take our shoes off and get our toes in the sand. Caroline has never felt the sand so it was fun to see her reactions. As with everything, it didn't seem to faze her. She did enjoy walking on the smooth sand versus the thicker, dry sand. She immediately found the beach rocks and seaweed and loved showing us her treasures.

Love the pose :)

She loved meeting all of the new people and really enjoyed meeting all of the new pups. Grampy and Nana were driving by and stopped and played too. Grampy was having so much fun that he got his feet soaked!

We see lots of weeknight walks on the beach in our future. Next time, we'll bring the pups!

Look How Big!

Look how big our girl is getting. She's still a peanut in the weight department and even when you're walking with her she looks so small, but every once in a while you look and Bam! you see she's getting big.
Daddy doesn't like to look at this picture since she looks so long :)

Enjoying the Hammock

My hammock is up on the front porch. Life finally seems to be settling into place. That hammock and I are good buds and we both came up here from Pawleys Island, SC.

We decided to see how Caroline would like the hammock. We didn't think she'd mind, nothing ever seems to faze her. We're glad she likes it though, seeing as the dogs and cat love it too, it's a family past time :)
