Brookgreen Gardens

On our first full day in Litchfield we decided to hit Brookgreen Gardens. It's right up the road and would be good to stretch our legs and walk the old plantation. It was also one of my favorite places to walk, photograph, and study in when I lived there. The plan was to go there for one day and tour the animal areas and then another day to go through the sculpture gardens but we never got a chance to go back :( Next trip for sure! *sigh*

Caroline had a ball riding on the tram that took us to each end of the plantation. She loved the animal sculptures and wanted to touch them and interact with them more than some of the real animals! She wasn't too keen on the foxes since they "smell like skunks." She loved the alligators, the lizards and fox squirrels that popped up all around, and the otters. I'm a bit fan of the otter exhibit too and they made it even better since I left. It used to be a natural habitat but they added a nice clear water tank so you can watch them swim under the water and do flips, etc.!

We headed over to their new Butterfly Pavilion and Caroline tried so hard to get a butterfly to land on her arm, but it wasn't happening with her bouncing all over the place. Finally, one landed on her hat though! Afterwards, she was hungry so we headed to her new favorite place the "Pigga Wiggly" :P and grabbed some sandwich fixings and headed back to the hotel for food and a nap!

 Not a baby anymore, but littler than Momma so Caroline was happy!
