While I'd be OK never writing this post, I knew it was inevitable. Caroline has actually done really well the past 13 months, only getting the sniffles once and that lasted half a day.
Last night Caroline woke up from her nap and was not a happy camper. In hindsight, she went down for every nap a little too easy. She was warm and very irritable. The real kicker for us was when she laid on Alan's lap for forty minutes. Forty minutes! This kid doesn't stop, rarely cuddles, and she just laid there. We gave her some Tylenol and off to bed she went.
I barely slept, listening to every sound she made during the night. She woke up earlier then usual and Alan beat me upstairs since he was just as curious to see how she was. She was HOT. Very hot! Gave her a bottle, didn't bother with the sippy cup since she was miserable, and some Tylenol. A little while later I got around to taking her temperature and it was 101.4. She had cooled down so it had been higher than that. Decided a call to her doctor was in order to see what he wanted to do.
We decided to bring her in since she had a couple of swollen lymph nodes in her neck and her ears looked a little gross. The verdict is a virus. Her eardrums are dull, but there is no fluid nor redness. Her throat and nose look good. So, hopefully she'll ride this out and we'll be good to go. We're on the lookout and in the meantime all play dates have been canceled! Besides having a wedding to go to Friday, I want my baby better! Love the cuddles, but not at the expense of her well being.
There is some good news to report. She weighed in at 20 pounds even. That's up 11 oz. from her 12 month appointment a month ago. We were concerned since she hasn't been drinking as much milk now that she is switching to a cup. No need to worry, that's her biggest weight gain so far! Who knows, maybe kiddo will creep up to 25% or higher for her 15 month appointment.
Hope Caroline is feeling better!
